Appraisals
Water rights are transferable property rights that can have significant value. Many water right owners do not understand the value of their property right.
Our approach to providing an opinion of value of water rights is to first understand what the water right is. Is it reliable in a drought? Is there a consistent and well-documented history of beneficial use under the terms of the decree? Is there an active market for the water, and if so, at what price has similar water been sold? Are there special opportunities, such as interruptible supply agreements or leases that could be considered? We use the results of our research and our experience in the marketplace to arrive at our opinion of the value of the water.
